Fellow Pennsylvanians, choose your state dirt.

I was interested to learn that Pennsylvania has a state dance (the polka, unsurprisingly). A bit of research revealed that only one other state (Wisconsin) has honored the polka in that way.

In addition: Square Dancing is the official dance or folk dance of: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, KY, LA, MA, MD, MS, MO, MT, ND, NE, NJ, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA and WV.

Hawaii's official dance is the hula (again no shocker).

A few states have a state dance in addition to having Square Dance as their folk dance. This includes: CA - West Coast Swing; SC - Carolina Shag; TX - Texas Two-Step.

Have you ever heard the Colorblind James Experience's song Polka Girl? Sublime - the CJE are "the sound of the working class ascending to heaven", according to this fansite.

I don't know about state dirts, state dances, or polka girls, but I did just see The American Prospect referring to swing-state voters as purple people, which suggests a Sheb Wooley reprise is in order.
