Art Mobs

An interesting article about the collaborative possibilities (or, in many cases, limitations) of Internet art and literature.

Dave Mulcahey's defense of Surowiecki from a lefty perspective brings up an interesting irony: it used to be considered left-wing to promote thinking as a cooperative activity. That was, for example, Paolo Freire's argument in The Pedagogy of the Oppressed. Now the notion of collective wisdom seems to have especial value to free marketeers, provided the collective thinking is done through the "market" activities of buying and bookmaking. I'm not sure if I see any "moral to the story" here but it's an interesting shift anyway.
