England, Which England?

I suppose this is arguably in bad taste, but the correspondence between the last name of disgraced Private Lynndie England and a well-known northwestern European country is generating headlines which would have been perfect for any Dail Mail cover of the last 30 years or so:

Testimony Paints England As Disobedient
England Ignored Orders
England's Lifestyle Questioned
Witnesses tell of England's Disobedience, Sexual Misdeeds
England Disobedient, Promiscuous
England's Work Criticized
England Portrayed as ‘Having Fun' in Photos
(this sounds more like HELLO!)

Do you take the Daily Mail Al? I do these days, it's very readable.

Conversely Private Lynndie adds a little edge to headlines like these from the SF Chron:
- "England abloom: cultivating a taste for gardens in and around London."
- "Words, Wit from England"
- "A Patriot act that's pure magic -- Key to New England's success found in spare parts."

In the NY Times there's:

England Coach Cleared in Sex Scandal

It just occurred to me that "Hello" has got to be the strangest name for a paper ever. Is it, like, you know, referring more to Hello! as an interjection of surprise, as in like, Hello! where'd that motorcycle come from?

Or is it really just greeting its readers, as it sounds to a Californian?
