Posted by Alan Allport at March 21, 2005 06:48 AMI don't remember the Cold War as an especially peaceful period. In fact, my exerience was that the planet was a pretty scary place. Granted, nuclear weapons may have kept us from a global conflict, but the daily worry that we might incinerate ourselves made for an unpleasant "peace."
