This article in general seems thoughtful if a bit over-dire, but it contains one sublimely dreadful sentence:

I don't know how long the lipstick on a pig expression has been around, but somebody needs to put it out of business. It's astounding how overused it is. Seems there's a lot of people out there calling themselves "writers" who don't bother to do any thinking.
And what does greased down the shaft mean?
