And you thought cameras in cell phones were just a bourgeois affectation ... (hat tip to Barb).
Posted by Alan Allport at April 28, 2005 12:26 PMI don't know...a chef, a freezer, bananas in London, an exotic venomous spider, a camera in a cell phone...sounds pretty bourgeois to me.
Posted by: Bobby Farouk at April 28, 2005 12:34 PMDunno about cameras, but cell phones aren't bourgeois at all. In San Francisco, where housing is far more expensive than any other necessity, it is quite common for homeless people to have cell phones. I'm grateful it is so. Before the spread of the cell phone, one of the biggest problems homeless people had was finding a phone number to place on a job application that wouldn't be answered with, "hello, Shelter For The Bewildered," or similar.
