Orwell in Tribune

Looks like Orwell in Tribune won't contain anything not in Davison.

I have a feeling Davison knew he was providing research support for five or six other people's books and just didn't care if others took credit on the way to getting the work out there. He was so generously chatty with those footnotes.

Any idea what a going rate for CW minus the novels is these days?

Looks like you can get the volumes individually in paperback through either Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk. The UK deals look better but maybe not after currency exchange and shipping. Some deals look better on www.abebooks.com but not many. The second-hand items there might be hardcover.

I recommend starting with Vol. 10, "A Kind of Compulsion" (childhood through 1936), Vol. 11, "Facing Unpleasant Facts" (1937-39), Vol. 12, "A Patriot After All" (1940-1941), and then Vol. 18, "Smothered Under Journalism" (1946), and Vol. 20, "Our Job is to Make Life Worth Living," which has the indexes and a ton of appendices including The List.

On the bedeviled question of "premature anti-Fascism" etc., I've been kind of meaning to reread Vols. 11 and 12 since last week.

Nah, think up one ThinkGeek t-shirt idea and you're in the money:
