I saw a wonderful version of the 1984 article, including "also there was some stuff about rats, but I didn't understand that part."

Andrew Sullivan, I think, wrote that parodists had started editing articles extensively, but that it was still impossible to differentiate the parody from the unintentional self-parody.

So I must be the last to know, but when did Sullivan get this gig with the Atlantic?
